Microbe Host Interactions UREKA Site
The Science Foundation of Ireland has funded a summer research programme in University College Cork to encourage undergraduate students in the biological sciences to consider following a course of PhD study. Our summer research programme is open to undergraduates of all nationalities, who have not yet entered their final year of studies. Our programme of research focuses on many different aspects of 'Microbe-Host Interactions' between microbes and their hosts through analyses of microbial pathogenesis and commensalism as well as the host response to microbial colonisation.
A stipend of €300 per week will be offered, along with a financial contribution towards travel expenses for international students. The project runs for 12 weeks (June 13th to Sept 2nd 2011) and will include a laboratory research project, visits to industry, technology showcase sessions and a variety of talks/events designed to develop student's interest in scientific research. Student accommodation in Cork can be arranged by Site managment.
